Women's Volleyball Hosts Rival Randolph

Lynchburg, Va. -- Two Lynchburg area teams are set to compete against each other in Turner Gymnasium located on the University of Lynchburg campus. The prospective thrilling match between the University of Lynchburg women's volleyball team and Randolph College women's volleyball is set to take place Wednesday, September 25 at 5 p.m.

The two opponents have matched up every year since 1999, totaling 27 in total. The results have leaned Lynchburg's way as the Hornets have come out on top 24 times. The ODAC and Lynchburg rivals are in for a good one. Most recently, Lynchburg bounced back into the win column against Shenandoah, where they completed their first sweep of the season. During the match, sophomore Tori Williamson led the squad with 11 kills and totaled 12.5 points. Sophomore Ava Meinhardt also played a major role, as she was second on the team with 2 block assists and led the team in points, totaling 13.

During the Lynchburg area battle, look for the Hornets offense to be led by sophomore Tori Williamson and junior Bree Spainhour, who have 295 kills combined this season. Junior's Kailey Keough and Jaina Leek have cruised in the serving category this season, each notching at least 25 serving aces on the season. In the ODAC statistics, both Leek and Keough are top 10 in the serving aces category with Keough coming in at fifth with 26 serving aces and Leek at eighth with 25 serving aces.

For the Wildcats' season, they are off to an 8-5 start and have won their last two matches. Against early ODAC competition, Randolph has one win and one loss, with a 3-2 triumph against Shenandoah and a 3-0 loss to Randolph-Macon. Offensively, the Wildcats have been led by Jillian Warter who has tallied 139 kills this season, which is top 10 in the ODAC statistics.

After Wednesday's contest, the Hornets will hit the road to the nation's capital for a four-game, two-day tournament this weekend. They will begin play on Friday, September 27 at 5 p.m.
