Fredericksburg, Va.- The Lynchburg women's soccer team captured an impressive 1-0 victory on the road vs. Mary Washington. The Hornets now find themselves with an unblemished, 2-0, record in their away contests thus far.
The two programs found themselves in a 0-0 stalemate at the half in a defensive affair. However, coming out of the break, it was a dish from freshman,
Sammie Rogstad, that set up
Haleigh Casey for the lone goal of the night. The connection from freshman to senior was a career first for both, Rogstad with her first collegiate assist and Casey with her first collegiate goal.
Merdeith Bowers was also crucial piece for the Hornets in this contest. The senior goalkeeper tallied six saves, as she refused to allow anything to get past her.
This contest concludes Lynchburg's non-conference schedule, coming out with a record of 3-3-1. The Hornets will now look ahead to their ODAC play, starting with Gilford at 1 pm this Saturday, September 28.
This home game will also be the first of a three game stretch for Lynchburg, their longest of the season.
