Forest, Va. -- Following a strong weekend swing down south for some SEC competition,
Lucy Metzler was named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Flat Rider of the Week, announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.
The Hornets traveled to South Carolina and Georgia this past weekend to square off against some top-ranked dual discipline squads. Metzer was the lone Lynchburg rider to tally a team point in each respective competition.Â
On the first meet of the weekend against the Gamecocks, Metzer rode in both the fences and the flats. In the fences category, the Boulder, Colorado native scored a 79 in the Fences and a 71 in the Flat, earning a team point for her Flat performance.
In the second day of competition, against the Bulldogs, Metzer once again competed in both events. In this affair, the senior earned a score of 73 in the Fences and an astounding 86 in the Flat, the highest team score for Flat on the afternoon and enough to earn a point for the Hornets.Â
With Metzer earning a point for the Hornets in the flat category for each competition, she remains unbeaten in the 2024-25 season.
This is the fourth time Metzer has earned ODAC Rider of the Week honors, with her most recent having been this past fall (10/1/24).Â
As a group, Lynchburg equestrian fell to South Carolina, 2-8, and tied Georgia in team points, but ultimately fell in the raw score to conclude their SEC swing over the weekend.Â
