Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg men's soccer team is set for its first match on Shellenberger Field this season when the Regent Royals visit the Hill City on Saturday, Sept. 13 at 5 p.m.
The Hornets (2-0-2) return to the home turf after a weekend swing on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, coming away with a 1-1 draw against Salisbury and a 3-2 victory against St. Mary's. In both contests, the men's soccer squad netted goals in the final 10 minutes of the competition; one from
Cristobal Massanet and another from
Matthew Viscuso. Through four matches, Lynchburg remains unbeaten, the first time in since 2022. 10 different performers have tallied points so far this season, six goal scorers and four with assists.Â
Since 2000, the Hornets have met the Royals on the pitch just once (Sept. 8, 2019) and claimed a 10-0 victory. So far this season, Regent owns a 2-3 overall record, claiming victories over Gallaudet and Mid-Atlantic Christian before losing its last three to Mary Washington, Randolph-Macon, and William Peace. The Royals' last outing resulted in a 9-1 loss to the Pacers. Offensively, Yann-Olivier Kamaga leads the way with four goals and two assists. Additionally, Isaiah Morris and Graylan Gill each have added three goals apiece.
Following tomorrow's affair, Lynchburg will face its first nationally ranked opponent of the season when No. 24 Mary Washington arrives to Shellenberger Field on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m.
