Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg women's volleyball unit welcomes Hood College for a showdown in Turner Gymnasium on Friday, Sept. 12, at 5 p.m.
The Hornets (7-1) are fresh off their first, and only, loss of the the season thus far. After falling to Springfield in 3-0 fashion, Cardoza and company look to get back on track with a win at home. Lynchburg's offense has excelled this season behind a host of strong hitters. Four Hornets currently sponsor 2.7 kills/et or better, led by
Kate Hardie with 3.10.
The towering pair of middle blockers have begun to reject shots in bunches as of late as well.
Ava Meinhardt and
Leah DiNardo sport a total of 39 blocks together through the first eight matches.
Hood College (4-1) enters this affair with a 2 game win streak, with a five frame win over McDaniel College in their most recent match. The Blazers have already faced one ODAC opponent in EMU, who they defeated in five sets to begin their season.
The Blazer offense is led by Ann Ofoegbu, who has produced 3.0 kills/set this season. Sophmomores Katie Goddard and Maria Ricketts have been defensive stalwarts for Hood this season, both tallying 3.10 diggs/set as well for the Blazers.
The Hornets will continue their weekend action in Harrisonburg on Saturday, Sept. 13, challenging Pfeiffer and Greensboro at noon and 2 p.m.
