Lynchburg, Va. – The University of Lynchburg women's soccer team opens a three-game road stretch with a nonconference matchup against Marymount on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 3:00 p.m.
Lynchburg enters the weekend boasting a 5-1-1 record following a recent 5-0 home victory over Randolph on Wednesday. While Saturday marks the Hornets' second road game of the season, the team has played three neutral-site games to begin 2025.
On Wednesday, the Hornets benefited from a committee effort that featured five different Hornets netting a goal. Midfielder Lauren Orner leads the club with five goals, while goalkeeper Kate Shepherd has been involved in each of Lynchburg's five clean sheets to begin the season.
Marymount enters Saturday in the midst of a six-game home stand ranging from Sept. 20 to Oct. 8, though the Saints have struggled mightily in recent games and dropped three consecutive shutouts. Marymount's last defeat featured a 3-0 scoreline against Mary Washington, in which all three goals were netted in the first half.
The Saints only surpassed the one-goal mark in one match to begin the season, netting five against Goucher in early September. Freshman Arianna Blanco leads the team with three goals on the season.
Shouldering a record of 3-4-2 to begin the year, Marymount will not open Atlantic East play until Saturday, Oct. 4. Lynchburg faced the Saints for the first time in series history last season and earned a 3-0 victory in the home opener.Â
Saturday's game will be broadcast on the Atlantic East Network.
