No. 2/2 Lynchburg Notches 22nd Straight Win With Triumph Over Randolph-Macon

Lynchburg, Va. -- Ryder Warren of the University of Lynchburg baseball team knocked through a two-run double in the eighth inning to help push the squad to a narrow 6-5 victory over Randolph-Macon on Tuesday afternoon at Fox Field, effectively securing the team's 22nd consecutive victory.

The No. 2/2 Hornets (30-3-1, 17-0-1 ODAC) hit the 30-win mark in today's battle against the RV Yellow Jackets (20-12, 11-7). After falling behind 1-0 in the second inning, Lynchburg broke through in the fourth. Joe Munitz reached base and Sean Pokorak followed with a two-run home run to center, giving the Hornets a 2-1 lead. Lynchburg added another run in the fifth when Ryder Warren hit a solo home run to right field to extend the advantage to 3-1.

The Hornets continued to build in the sixth. Jack Pokorak singled and later scored on a sacrifice fly from Kyle Flora, pushing the lead to 4-1. Randolph-Macon responded in the seventh with a two-run home run to cut the margin to 4-3, and tied the game in the eighth on a solo home run.

Lynchburg answered immediately in the bottom of the eighth with the decisive rally. Quinn Madden doubled to right center to start the inning and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Munitz. After a walk to Flora, Warren delivered a two-run double to center field, scoring both Madden and Flora to give Lynchburg a 6-4 lead.

Randolph-Macon pushed across a run in the ninth and threatened late, but the Hornets held on to secure the win. Lynchburg finished with six runs on seven hits. Warren led the offense with two hits, including a home run and a double, and drove in three runs. Sean Pokorak added two hits and two RBIs, while Madden contributed a double and scored twice.

On the mound, Logan Tapman started and allowed one run over six innings while striking out four. Trent Judd worked in relief before Austin Riney and Colin McGuire combined to close out the final innings. McGuire earned the win as Lynchburg secured the one-run victory.

The Hornets are set for a home double header against No. 5/7 Shenandoah this weekend, Saturday, April 25, starting at noon, which will also serve as Lynchburg's senior day.
