Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg men's lacrosse team matched up against Hill City foe Randolph and came away with a 22-2 victory on Wednesday evening, earning its ninth consecutive triumph this season.
The No. 3/3 Hornets (14-1, 9-0 ODAC)Â controlled the game against the WildCats (3-14, 1-9) from the outset, scoring six goals in the first quarter.
Riley Hastings opened the scoring and added another goal, while
Spencer Vandenberg,
Van Tanguay,
Mark Rubley, and
Kayden Hinchey each found the back of the net to give Lynchburg a 6-0 lead after one.
Lynchburg continued its momentum in the second quarter, adding six more goals to extend the lead to 12-0.
Mikey Richardson started the scoring in the period off an assist from
Hudson Royer, and
Henry Fowler followed with two goals.
James Bauer,
Ryan Hildebrand, and
Liam Crawford also scored during the run before Randolph got on the board late in the quarter to make it 12-1 at halftime.
The Hornets added six more goals in the third quarter to pull further away. Fowler recorded two more goals in the period, while Bauer,
Quincy White,
Nathan Miller, and Crawford also contributed as Lynchburg built an 18-1 advantage heading into the fourth.
Lynchburg closed out the game with four goals in the final quarter. Crawford added another goal, while
Alex Morton and Bauer each scored before
Evan Yale capped the scoring late to secure the 22-2 victory.
Fowler led the Hornets with four goals, while Bauer and Crawford each added three. Lynchburg outshot Randolph 43-8, held a 42-7 advantage in ground balls, and won 22 faceoffs in the win, while also going a perfect 10-for-10 on clears.
The men's lacrosse team now prepares for the final contest of the regular season when No. 18 Washington and Lee visits Shellenberger Field on Saturday, April 25 at 7 p.m.
