Josh Smith Returns To Lynchburg Athletics As Director Of Digital Media

Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg athletic department is excited to announce the hiring of Joshua Smith to the university staff as the director of digital media, a multi-time award-winner in the collegiate digital media space.

In this role with the Hornets, Smith will oversee the department's digital content strategy, leading the creation and distribution of multimedia content across the athletic department's official social media platforms, website, and additional digital channels. He will work collaboratively with the university's sport programs and student-athletes to elevate the Lynchburg brand while enhancing engagement with fans, alumni, recruits, and supporters.

Smith returns to Lynchburg after a one-year stint as an assistant director of athletic communications at Bridgewater College. In his role with the Eagles, he spearheaded revamping the creative content produced by the athletic department while serving as the main sports information contact for numerous programs.

Before his time at Bridgewater, Smith spent two years at Lynchburg as an athletic communications graduate assistant, where he produced award-winning content in the videography, photography, and graphic design areas. Additionally, he was a valuable asset in the production of high-level broadcasts and the overall development of the Lynchburg Hornets Sports Network.

Prior to his first arrival in the Hill City, Smith served as an assistant tennis coach for Greensboro College. He coached two all-conference players for the Pride. While studying Sports Management at Wingate, he worked in the athletic communication department creating graphics and taking video for multiple teams. He also served as a manager and student assistant for their men's and women's tennis programs.

Lynchburg athletics is ecstatic to welcome Smith back to the department. His skill set and abilities will be an impactful asset to the Lynchburg athletic department and the development and presentation of the university's student-athletes.
