"Five for the Hive" is a new $2.5 million initiative committed to modernizing each of University of Lynchburg's on-campus athletic competition venues -- Moon Field, the Lynchburg Tennis Courts, Fox Field, Shellenberger Field and the Dr. Jack M. Toms '69 Track, and Turner Gymnasium. Each of the modernization pieces will enhance our ability to connect with fans, alumni and prospective families in new and dynamic ways.
Your commitment to future generations of Hornets will allow us to access a $75,000 matching grant by the Mary Morton Parsons Foundation allowing us to begin the process of getting each project in motion during the next twelve months.
If you are interested in becoming a part of Lynchburg's ongoing facilities upgrades, please contact assistant vice president for development Shawn Wood or senior major gift officer Tom Burrowes.
MOON FIELD
Elevated stadium seating and expanded dugouts at the home of Lynchburg softball will make a more comfortable home for the Hornets' players and fans alike. Right off the University's main entrance at Lakeside Drive, the upgraded facility will present an appealing front door for students, families, and visitors alike. Fresh new bullpens will accompany the upgrade.

TENNIS COURTS
The Lynchburg tennis courts will be relocated and will be expanded to a full eight-court bouquet, allowing for better training opportunities and more efficient match play, along with a better spectator experience.

FOX FIELD
A new stadium surrounding the backstop will provide for more comfortable and more accessible seating for Lynchburg baseball fans. The Dan Wooldridge Press Box will be repositioned and refurbished as part of the upgrade.

TURNER GYMNASIUM (completed September 2021)
Modernized chairback and molded plastic seating inside Turner Gymnasium will add a fresh new look to the home of Lynchburg men's and women's basketball and women's volleyball and provide the University with a first-class event space for guest speakers, Commencement ceremonies, and other special events.
