Former professional ballplayer Michael Solbach joined the Lynchburg staff as a volunteer pitching coach in 2017.

Solbach, a Northern Virginia native who played at Liberty University from 2004-07, was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 19th round of the 2007 MLB Draft and spent the next seven seasons pitching in the New York Yankees and Colorado Rockies organizations, reaching as high as Triple-A with the latter. He amassed 309 professional strikeouts in 349.1 innings.
