Jon Lombardo joined the Lynchburg coaching staff before the 2013 season as a graduate assistant and became the program's full-time assistant in 2015.
Along with coaching the defense, the native of Franklin Park, N.J. assists in recruiting potential student-athletes and heads up the Lynchburg Athletic Leadership Academy, a department-wide leadership initiative. During his time on staff, Lombardo has shown versatility by coaching both sides of the field; he was the program's defensive coach in 2013 and 2014, moved to the offensive side in 2015, and resumed his role at the helm of the stoppers in 2016.
Lombardo started throughout his career at Lynchburg (2009-12) and was named captain as a junior. That season, he helped anchor one of the best defenses in the nation and earned several accolades, including second-team All-ODAC and All-State. As a senior in 2012, he earned first-team All-ODAC and All-State honors, along with an honorable mention All-American award.
He scooped up 138 groundballs and caused 67 turnovers in his career, but his best attribute was his leadership; he was awarded the Lynchburg Men’s Lacrosse Leadership Award for those efforts in 2012.
Lombardo received his undergraduate degree in elementary education in 2012 his master's in educational leadership from Lynchburg in 2015.
