2013 All-ODAC Second-Team
2014: Finished his career with another outstanding season…tough defenseman who started on the man-down unit early in the season, but moved into the starting lineup later on in the year, and helped stabilize the defense…shut down defender picked up 29 ground balls and caused seven turnovers during the year…also scored two goals and assisted on one other during the year…be very tough for the coaching staff to replace toughness and leadership of this senior.
2013: In his first full year as a defenseman, cemented himself as one of the best in the conference…started 19 games, while playing in all of them…fearless defender picked up 52 groundballs and caused 24 turnovers, both numbers were second best on the team…important member in the transition game as he routinely helps clear the ball…used some of his old goalie skills in stopping a key shot against Virginia Wesleyan College…will continue to be a key cog in the defense next year.
2012: Second-year player made a huge impact after switching from goalie to defenseman…played on the top-line for man-down…energy player scooped up five groundballs and caused four turnovers…coaches expect a huge jump in his second year at the position.
2011: Played in six contests for the Hornets…Recorded five groundballs.
Before LC: Won three letters and was a three year starter for Bishop Ireton…was honorable mention All-WCAC, second team All-WCAC, and was on the Adidas Regional Team… won the Team Cardinal Award… was a team captain… had a 68% save percentage, six goals, and 12 assists his senior year… was on the honor roll three years… was on the Student Academic Council.
Personal: Son of Fritz and Joan Kestermann… his brother Joey played lacrosse at UMBC all four years, was on the Washington Bayhawks for two years, and was on the German National Team for six years...other brother, Andy, played lacrosse at Elon University...has a minor in sports management.
