Jessica Hinkle (nee Gonzalez), a native of Springfield, VA., joined Lynchburg’s coaching staff in 2014 following a five-year playing career under the leadership of head coach Dr. Todd Olsen. Gonzalez played a significant role on the coaching staff immediately following her graduation, helping guide the Hornets to a 2014 DIII National Championship - the first in school history. During her time on staff, the Hornets have claimed five Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships (2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2022) and competed in the NCAA Tournament seven times (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2021, 2022).

During her playing days from 2009 to 2013, she served as a four year starter and led the Hornets to an impressive 50-1-6 record in conference play. Providing key leadership in the midfield, she helped propel the program to four Old Dominion Athletic Conference championships and five consecutive NCAA tournament appearances, including the 2009 DIII National Semifinal. A three-year captain, Gonzalez was an All-Region and All-State honoree that garnered four All-ODAC honors.

Hinkle has coached locally at numerous local high schools. Most recently she served as the head girls’ soccer coach at Heritage High School from 2017-2019 and as the assistant girls’ soccer coach at Brookville High School from 2014-2016.

She graduated from Lynchburg with a bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Special Education in 2013 and her M.Ed. in Adaptive Special Education in 2017.

She currently serves as a Special Education Teacher at the Laurel Regional School and lives in Lynchburg, VA. with her husband, Lynchburg men's soccer associate head coach Josh Hinkle, and their two children.
