In the fall of 2024, Caroline Gerke was promoted to University Head of Photography. In this role, she collaborates with both the Marketing and Communications department and the Athletics department to capture compelling visuals that highlight the university experience.
Gerke has earned national recognition from College Sports Communicators throughout her time at Lynchburg. She was named the CSC Division III Photographer of the Year and earned third-place honors in the College Division in both 2024 and 2025. In 2026, Gerke placed fifth in the College Division Photographer of the Year Portfolio category, finishing second among Division III finalists. Her 2026 honor marked the third consecutive year she earned a spot inside the top five in the College Division.
Her photography, which features students, faculty, athletes, events, and campus life, is showcased in Lynchburg Magazine, on the university’s website, and across social media platforms.
In addition to her photography work, Gerke oversees a team of student photographers, mentoring and guiding them in their roles at the university.
Gerke earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in graphic design from Lynchburg in the spring of 2022. She then joined the university staff as an Athletics Communication Assistant and received her Master of Business Administration in 2024.
Caroline resides in Lynchburg with her dog, Koda.Â
