Colton Stoneking joined the Lynchburg Wrestling program in the summer of 2026 as a graduate assistant wrestling coach. A standout wrestler and scholar-athlete, Stoneking established himself as one of the most accomplished competitors in program history at Fairmont State. In his senior season, Stoneking became an NCAA national qualifier for the third straight season. During his junior season, he began the year ranked ninth nationally and made history by becoming the program's first-ever Mountain East Conference Champion. His exceptional performance earned him MEC Most Outstanding Wrestler honors and culminated in an NCAA Super Region I Championship, making him just the second regional champion in program history.
He qualified for the NCAA Division II National Championships and earned All-America honors with a fifth-place finish, becoming only the second NCAA Division II All-American in program history. He completed the season with a 32-6 record and was recognized with the Freddie Awards Male Athlete of the Year and Sports Moment of the Year honors. In the classroom, he was named an NWCA Academic All-American, earned Academic All-MEC honors, was selected to the CSC Academic All-District Team, and received the NCAA Division II ADA Academic Achievement Award.
As a sophomore, Stoneking served as team captain and climbed as high as No. 17 in the national rankings. He placed third at the NCAA Super Region I Championships to qualify for the NCAA Division II National Championships and finished the season with a 22-6 record. He also earned NWCA Academic All-American recognition.
During his freshman campaign, Stoneking earned MEC Honorable Mention honors with a third-place finish at the conference championships and played a role in helping the team secure a third-place finish at the MEC Championships, the highest team finish in program history at the time. Among his notable accomplishments were a first-place finish at the Waynesburg Invitational, a runner-up finish at the Purple Raider Open, and multiple pinfall victories.
Prior to college, Stoneking was a two-time Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) State Placer and graduated first in his high school class, demonstrating the same commitment to excellence in the classroom that defined his collegiate career.
