Eden Bigham, a Rustburg native, joined the softball coaching staff in the summer of 2026 as an assistant coach after she spent four seasons as a pitcher for the University of Virginia softball team.
As she helped the Cavaliers to 142 wins throughout her four seasons, Bigham secured the program record for career saves (14) and earned All-ACC First Team honors in 2024 and 2025. The team’s 40-win season in 2026 represented the most successful season in UVA history, while Bigham propelled the Cavaliers to three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.
The six-time ACC Pitcher of the Week selection maintained a 2.67 ERA and 62-29 record, posting 530 career strikeouts in 139 appearances. In March 2025, Bigham recorded a perfect game in a 1-0 victory over Hofstra, the program’s first perfect game in 30 years.
During her high school career, Bigham joined forces with Lynchburg softball alum Carly Hudnall to help Rustburg High School clinch the 2021 VHSL state title. She earned two all-region honors and a VHSL First Team All-State distinction, which contributed to her No. 10 ranking as a high school pitching recruit on Extra Inning Softball.
Bigham majored in Cognitive Science at UVA and earned her Intercollegiate Athletics Administration Certificate in 2026.
