Taylor (Swartz) Fretwell joined the University of Lynchburg Sports Medicine staff in Fall 2025 as an athletic trainer. She is a three-time graduate of Liberty University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science: Therapeutic Science in 2022, a Master of Science in Exercise Science: Nutrition & Wellness in 2023, and a Master of Science in Athletic Training in May 2025.
Fretwell has gained a wide range of clinical experience through rotations with Liberty University athletics, Sweet Briar College, William Campbell High School, Staunton River High School, and OrthoVirginia. She has worked with athletes across NCAA Division I, II, and III programs, as well as high school and club sport settings, providing care in injury evaluation, rehabilitation, and game-day support.
She is a certified Graston Technique Provider and Corrective Exercise Specialist, and also holds credentials in Basic Life Support for HealthCare Providers (AHA) and Exercise Physiology (ACSM). Fretwell is an active member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA), Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainers’ Association (MAATA), and the Virginia Athletic Trainers’ Association (VATA).
