LC Volleyball Drops Five-Set Heartbreaker at Roanoke

          SALEM, VA - Roanoke rallied from two sets behind to defeat Lynchburg College, 16-25, 18-25, 25-21, 25-22, and 15-13 Saturday afternoon in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play. The Maroons improved to 13-3, 4-1 in the ODAC, while the Hornets fell to 9-7, 3-1 in conference play.

Four LC players recorded double digits kills, but could not overcome Roanoke. Sophomore Marion Lozano (Manassas, VA/Seton School) had 16 kills of 30 attempts with only two errors. She also had six assists and four digs. Sophomore Rebecca Loftis (Coventry, CT/Coventry) was second on the team with 13 kills of 29 attempts and had four of Lynchburg's five solo blocks.

Senior Michele Boucher (Chesapeake, VA/Nansemond Suffolk) and sophomore Rachel Huffman (Virginia Beach, VA/Bayside) each added 11 kills as well.

On the defensive side, senior Jasmine Murphy (Shipman, VA/Nelson County)led the team with 22 digs. Sophomore setter Brooke Moughon (Mathews, VA/Mathews)was the leader in assists with 30. Moughon also had 11 digs in the match.

Lynchburg (9-7, 3-1) will be in action again on Tuesday when they travel to Eastern Mennonite to battle their ODAC foe at 7 p.m.
