Hornet women's soccer beats Randolph-Macon
LYNCHBURG, VA- For its last regular-season home game for the season, the Lynchburg College women's soccer defeated Randolph-Macon College 5-0 on Wednesday afternoon on Shellenberger Field in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play.
Junior Joanie Snyder (Bel Air, MD/Bel Air) scored 2:51 into the game to give Lynchburg the early 1-0 advantage. Senior Betsy Kwiatkowski (Mount Jackson, VA/Stonewall Jackson) put the Hornets ahead by two with a goal at the 37:11 mark of the first half off a pass from junior Brittany Klippstein (Springfield, VA/West Springfield).
After scoring two goals against Methodist on Sunday, sophomore Kristen Melchiori (Chantilly, VA/Chantilly) had two goals again to lead the Hornets. Both goals were assisted Kwiatkowski who leads the team with 11 assists so far this season.
Senior Katie Santos (Cheltenham, MD/Bishop Ireton) scored her third goal in three games at the 25:11 mark of the second half after she collected the loose ball in front of the net and scored.
Working a scoreless game in net was senior Jackie Bader (Fort Washington, MD/Bishop Ireton) and freshman Karsen Schottleutner (McKinney, TX/Ursuline Academy) who made one save.
Randolph-Macon goalie China Bradley made 12 saves in the game.
Lynchburg (13-2-1/8-0-1 ODAC) will travel to Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday to take on the Marlins at 7 p.m.
