Chillemi Powers LC to Win over Emory & Henry
EMORY, VA - The Lynchburg College men's basketball team defeated Emory & Henry College 75-66, in large part due to junior forward Austin Chillemi's (Richmond, VA/Trinity Episcopal) double-double on Wednesday evening in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play. It is Lynchburg's first conference win of the season.
Chillemi posted a career-high 20 points and 11 rebounds in the contest going 7-10 from the field. Junior guard Tucker Lucas (Herndon, VA/Herndon) went 5-8 from the field including going 3-4 from three-point range with a total of 17 points in the game. Lucas also pulled down five defensive rebounds.
Junior forward Nate Campbell (Cary, NC/Cary) had 14 points and seven rebounds while sophomore guard Robby Kaiser (East Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) came off the bench to add 10 points, going 2-3 from three-point range.
Lynchburg led 36-30 at halftime after a pair of free throws from Kaiser. The Hornets led as much as 17 at the 9:16 mark of the second half after a three pointer from Lucas.
Bobby Stafford led Emory & Henry (2-5, 0-2 ODAC) with 25 points in the game and had seven defensive boards.
Lynchburg (4-2, 1-0 ODAC) has now won four straight games and will host conference-rival Roanoke College on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. in Turner Gym.
