Lynchburg Falls to North Carolina Wesleyan
LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College women's basketball team fell to North Carolina Wesleyan College by a score of 52-47 in non-conference action on Monday night in Turner Gym.
Both teams played close in the first half of the game, with Lynchburg leading 10-7 at the 11:59 mark. By hitting a couple layups at the end of the half, North Carolina Wesleyan went into the locker room at halftime up 27-22.
With the score tied at 44-44 at the 5:43 mark of the second half, the Battling Bishops benefitted from a 6-0 run to pull away from the Hornets. Lynchburg hit only 7-16 free throws on the night.
Lynchburg shot 32% from the field and were led by junior guard Carly Greenlief (Centreville, VA/Westfield) who had 11 points. She also had a team-high nine rebounds and blocked a career-high four shots. Freshman guard Roslyn Alexander (Chesapeake, VA/Shenendehowa) had seven points and five boards while junior forward Katie Crump (Burke, VA/Lake Braddock) had seven rebounds and four points.
Senior guard Courtney Brewer (Culpeper, VA/Highland) had 10 points and grabbed six rebounds. Desiree' Driver had a team-high 11 points for the Bishops.
The Hornets are back in action again on Saturday afternoon when they host Ferrum College at 3 p.m. in Turner Gym.
