Lynchburg Women Shutout Meredith 2-0

            RALEIGH, NC - The Lynchburg College women's soccer team scored twice in the first half and held on for a 2-0 non-conference victory at Meredith College Wednesday.

            Senior midfielder Cecilia Moore ( Washington, DC/Woodrow Wilson) scored from Betsy Kwiatkowski (Mount Jackson, VA/Stonewall Jackson) 24 minutes in for a 1-0 lead. Kristen Melchiori (Chantilly, VA/Chantilly) scored an unassisted tally at 40:43 and neither team found the back of the net from that point on.

            Senior keeper Jackie Bader (Fort Washington, MD/Bishop Ireton) recorded her third shutout of the season, making two saves. Meredith (6-2) goalie Kelsey Hopper made eight stops.  

            The Hornets outshot the Avenging Angels 12-7, but Meredith held a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.

            Lynchburg (7-2) hosts Old Dominion Athletic Conference rival Hollins University Saturday at 1 p.m.
