LC falls to Washington & Lee in road contest
LEXINGTON, VA - The Lynchburg College women's basketball team fell to Washington & Lee University on Friday night by a score of 63-45 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play.
Despite a two-game winning streak, the Hornets could not contain the Generals' Becca Bolton and Meg Ingram. Hornets sophomore Leah Bonuccelli (Pictured - Fairfax Station, VA/W. T. Woodson) led Lynchburg with 10 points and had six rebounds.
Bolton who came off the bench, went 10-19 from the floor and registered 23 points, and seven rebounds to go along with four steals. Ingram had 16 points in the victory over the Hornets.
Lynchburg fought closely with WLU for the first half until the Generals pulled away going into halftime with a score of 34-22. The Hornets could not make a run to come back in the second half, leading to a 63-45 final.
The Hornets outrebounded WLU (8-4, 5-3 ODAC) on the offensive boards (12-10) and the defensive boards (25-24). Junior Katie Crump (Burke, VA/Lake Braddock) had eight points and six steals, while senior Courtney Brewer (Culpeper, VA/Highland) came off the bench and added seven points.
Lynchburg (2-10, 2-5 ODAC) will return home on Tuesday and host Roanoke College at 7 p.m. in Turner Gym.
