LC Defense Fuels 57-34 Win Over Emory & Henry
LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College women's basketball team forced Emory & Henry College into just 20 percent shooting from the floor en route to a 57-34 victory Friday night in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action.
LC led 13-9 with 12 minutes left in the first half and the defense took over. The Hornets didn't allow another point the remainder of the stanza to take a 30-9 advantage into intermission. Lynchburg's defense allowed E&H to connect on just 3-of-28 shots in the first half (11%).
The Hornets led by 16 points or more the remainder of the game. Lynchburg doubled the Wasps rebounding numbers, grabbing 62 rebounds to E&H's 31.
Lynchburg only had one player score in double figures while 12 players got in the scoring column in a team offensive effort. Junior forward Caitlin Falls (Moneta, VA/Staunton River) made all three of her shots and finished with a game-high 10 points along with eight rebounds. Carly Greenlief (Centreville, VA/Westfield) posted eight points, seven rebounds and four assists while Katie Crump (Burke, VA/Lake Braddock) and Annie Terry (Appomattox, VA/Appomattox) each had six points and four rebounds. Caleigh Patterson (Fairfax, VA/Fairfax) continued her strong post play in recent games with eight boards.
Christina Howard led Emory & Henry (1-12/0-9 ODAC) with nine points behind three three-pointers. Kaitlyn Harrison tallied eight points, five rebounds and five steals while Faith Walker grabbed seven rebounds and five blocks.
Lynchburg (3-11/3-6 ODAC) hosts Guilford College Saturday at 4 p.m. in more ODAC play.
