LYNCHBURG, VA - Junior guard Tucker Lucas (Herndon, VA/Herndon) connected for a game-high 17 points Saturday as the Lynchburg College men's basketball team defeated visiting Emory & Henry College 67-53 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action.
The Hornets scored the first five points of the game and never trailed. LC held a 12-8 lead with 13 minutes left in the half and used an 11-2 run (behind three three-pointers) to pull ahead 23-10. Lynchburg held a 35-21 advantage at intermission and led by double figures the entire second half.
Six Hornets scored seven points or more, led by Lucas who nailed four three-pointers en route to his game-high point total. Brandan Connor (Chesterfield, VA/Meadowbrook) hit four of his six shots and finished with 13 points while Michael Wims (Standardsville, VA/William Monroe) pulled down a game-best 10 rebounds and scored seven points. Andrew Simmons (Chesterfield, VA/Meadowbrook) posted nine points, six rebounds and three assists, Nate Campbell (Cary, NC/Cary) battled foul trouble but still totaled eight points and five rebounds and Robby Kaiser (East Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) scored eight points with three first-half steals.
Terrance Gregg paced the Wasps (3-14/0-9) with 11 points, four boards and three steals. Jorel Terrell netted nine points and blocked two shots. Lynchburg forced 18 E&H turnovers while only committing 11. The Hornets shot 40 percent (8-20) from behind the three-point arc, while Emory & Henry converted just 21 percent (4-19) from the same distance.
Lynchburg (7-11/3-7 ODAC) travels to Hampden-Sydney College Wednesday for another ODAC game at 7 p.m.
