Guilford College Edges Lynchburg 63-49
LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College women's basketball team fell to Guilford College in a Saturday afternoon bout by a score of 63-49 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play.
The Quakers shot 52% from the field for the game and 35% from three-point range to defeat the Hornets. Senior guard Courtney Brewer (Culpeper, VA/Highland) led Lynchburg with 12 points and chipped in three boards.
Guilford held the lead for most of the first half, with the Quakers leading 27-18 going into the locker room. Lynchburg narrowed the lead to four points at 29-25 after a jumper from junior Carly Greenlief (Centreville, VA/Westfield) at 17:13 of the second half.
Jazlyn Gibbs for Guilford made three three-point buckets in the second half to keep Lynchburg from getting back into the game. Trailing by six at 3:59 left, Guilford extended the lead to a final of 63-49.
Junior forward Katie Crump (Burke, VA/Lake Braddock) had eight points and pulled down nine rebounds. Fellow junior forward Caitlin Falls (Moneta, VA/Staunton River) chipped in seven points as well.
Gibbs led Guilford (10-6/6-5 ODAC) with 21 points while Gabby Oglesby added 16.
Lynchburg (3-12/3-7 ODAC) travels to Randolph-Macon College on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
