HARRISONBURG, VA – A 49-point second half outburst propelled the Eastern Mennonite University women's basketball team to a 75-63 victory over visiting Lynchburg College Saturday afternoon.
Lynchburg scored the last five points of the half, all by junior guard Annie Terry (Appomattox, VA/Appomattox), to take a 31-26 lead at intermission. The Hornets scored the first seven points of the second half, five by senior Courtney Brewer (Culpeper, VA/Highland), to go ahead 38-26 before the Royal offense came alive, scoring 49 points in just 16:36 of play. EMU scored 16 unanswered points over the next four minutes to go ahead four. LC tied the game at 42, but Eastern Mennonite took the lead for good with a pair of free throws.
Brewer scored a team-high 19 points, her fourth-straight game in double figures. Katie Crump (Burke, VA/Lake Braddock) had a nice all-around game with 15 points and nine rebounds and fellow post player Caitlin Falls (Moneta, VA/Staunton River) tallied 10 points and 10 rebounds. Terry finished with 12 points.
Kala Yoders scored a game-high 23 points and snared six rebounds for EMU (11-8/9-5 ODAC). Danielle Rittenhouse netted 11 points and added four assists.
Lynchburg (3-16/3-11 ODAC) travels to Randolph College Friday for more conference play at 7 p.m.
