Lynchburg defeats Hollins University for second straight win
ROANOKE, VA - For the second day in a row, the Lynchburg College women's basketball team left the court with a win, as they defeated Hollins University 56-48 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play on Saturday night.
Junior guard Carly Greenlief (Centreville, VA/Westfield) and freshman guard Roslyn Alexander (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) both put up 12 points in the victory.
Lynchburg went into halftime after a close first half with a slim 23-22 lead. In the second half, the Hornets held a six-point lead before sophomore guard Leah Bonuccelli (Fairfax Station, VA/W. T. Woodson) put up a couple of free throws and a jumper to push the lead to ten. Bonuccelli finished the game with nine points, doing most of her damage at the free throw line, going 7-8. Maintaining offensive pressure in the remaining minutes, Lynchburg came out with its second win.
Freshman Caleigh Patterson (Fairfax, VA/Fairfax) was the team leader in rebounds with nine, and added six points. Junior Annie Terry (Appomattox, VA/Appomattox) had five assists, five rebounds, and three steals.
Lacie Forrest led Hollins (4-7/2-5 ODAC) with 14 points and had five steals.
Lynchburg (2-9/2-4 ODAC) will travel to Washington & Lee University on Friday night to play the Generals at 7 p.m.
