Marymount Defeats Lynchburg Women 74-60
ARLINGTON, VA – The Marymount University women's basketball team defeated Lynchburg College 74-60 Friday night in the first day of play at the Marymount Tip-Off Tournament.
Roslyn Alexander paced the Hornets with 14 points, with two three-pointers. Katie Crump was one of the few Hornets to shoot well against the tough Marymount defense, hitting six of her 11 shots en route to 12 points. Carly Greenlief posted nine points and five rebounds and Shea Kelley had nine points and six assists.
The Saint defense held LC to just 34 percent shooting from the floor (23-67) and 25 percent from three-point range. MU took advantage of 48 percent shooting (25-52) and 57 percent from three-point land (8-14). Katelyn Fischer played all 40 minutes for MU (1-1), scoring a game-high 29 points with 11 rebounds and seven assists. Sam Spencer added 17 points.
Lynchburg (0-2) will play Gettysburg College in the consolation game Saturday at 2 p.m.
