Hornet Women Fall 83-55 at R-MC
ASHLAND, VA – The Lynchburg College women's basketball team hung close into the second half, but Randolph-Macon College pulled away for an 83-55 victory Tuesday night over Lynchburg College in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play.
The first half went back-and-forth the entire 20 minutes. LC led 24-23 with four minutes left but the Yellow Jackets took a 29-26 lead into intermission.
Roslyn Alexander nailed a three-pointer three minutes into the second stanza to cut the lead to 37-33 before R-MC took over. A 19-2 run over the next six minutes opened a 54-35 edge and the Yellow Jackets never looked back.
Freshman Shannon Allan scored a career-best 16 points to lead the Hornets, hitting 7-of-12 attempts from the floor. She also added a team-high seven rebounds, two blocked shots and two steals. Senior Katie Crump drilled all three of her three-point attempts and finished with 13 points and six boards. Carly Greenlief posted six points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals and Katie Reeves also had six points and six rebounds.
Taylor Wieczorek paced Randolph-Macon (2-3/1-1 ODAC) with game highs of 26 points and nine rebounds. Sarah Parsons scored 19 points. The Yellow Jacket defense forced 31 turnovers, leading to 34 points.
The Hornets (0-5/0-2 ODAC) host Virginia Wesleyan College Saturday at 4 p.m. in another ODAC contest.
