Lynchburg Men's Basketball Commands 91-69 Win Over Emory & Henry
LYNCHBURG, VA - Forcing 30 turnovers, the Lynchburg College men's basketball team ran to a 91-69 final over Emory & Henry College on Wednesday night in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play.
LC finished with 20 steals in the game and had two players in double-figures in scoring. Junior Austin Chillemi registered 20 points while senior Nate Campbell knocked down 18. Chillemi went 8-10 from the floor with seven rebounds while Campbell went 8-13.
Lynchburg started the game on a 4-0 run with two straight buckets from Chillemi. Emory & Henry knocked down three-straight three point shots to take a 9-6 lead at 17:16 of the first half. The Wasps extended their lead to eight before LC chipped away and took an 18-16 lead at 12:47 with a layup from sophomore Xavier Parham.
The Hornets went to the locker room at halftime with a 47-37 lead. Emory & Henry shot 75% from beyond the arc (6-8) and 65% from the floor while Lynchburg 50% from the field (16-32).
In the second half, Lynchburg extended their lead to as much as 31 before the Wasps narrowed the gap to 22, ending with a final of 22.
Emory & Henry shot 57.5% (23-40) for the game from the field and 64.3% (9-14) from three-point range. Lynchburg ended with a field goal percentage of 54.2% (32-59).
Tyler Mullins led the way for the Wasps (2-4/0-2 ODAC) with 14 points and five assists. Kyle Sensabaugh grabbed seven boards and dropped 13 points. Charles Smith also entered into double figures with 10 points.
Senior Tucker Lucas and junior Michael Wims each added nine points. Parham registered eight assists and six steals while junior Brandan Connor made seven steals. Connor and Parham each have 35 steals on the season.
Lynchburg's 20 steals on the night place second in school history for most team steals in a game.
The Hornets (6-1/1-0 ODAC) head to Roanoke College on Saturday for an ODAC battle at 1 p.m.
