Lynchburg Women's Basketball Falls to Virginia Wesleyan
LYNCHBURG, VA – Led by Kristen Blalock's 26 points, the Virginia Wesleyan College women's basketball team defeated Lynchburg College 82-47 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action on Saturday afternoon.
Lynchburg kept it close with the Marlins through the first few minutes until Virginia Wesleyan went on a 13-0 run starting at 16:07. Freshman Shannon Allan led the Hornets in the first half with eight points followed by junior Caitlin Falls seven points. Virginia Wesleyan led 49-26 going into halftime.
VWC controlled the second half and kept the Hornets at bay, winning 82-47. Shawnee Lewis added 15 points for the Marlins.
Senior Katie Crump scored nine points for the Hornets and grabbed eight rebounds. Freshman Katie Reeves scored seven points, chipping in three assists. Allan finished with 14 total points and five rebounds. Falls registered five rebounds as well. Lynchburg forced 12 turnovers from the Marlins (4-1/2-0 ODAC).
Lynchburg (0-6/0-3 ODAC) hosts Barber-Scotia College next Friday night at 7 p.m. in Turner Gym.
