Alexander Paces Hornets to 65-47 Victory Over Randolph
LYNCHBURG, VA – With a 19-point game from freshman Roslyn Alexander (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendenowa) the Lynchburg College women's basketball team notched a 65-47 victory over cross-town rival Randolph College on Friday night in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play.
Alexander went 5-6 from three-point range and added four rebounds, tying her career high in points.
Despite falling behind 5-0 to start the game, Lynchburg came back to take a 6-5 lead after a jumper from junior Katie Crump (Burke, VA/Lake Braddock) at the 12:49 mark. The Hornets would not relinquish the lead from that point on, opening it up to a 28-16 lead at halftime.
In the second half, it was all Lynchburg as the bench players for LC put up 23 points. Junior forward Carly Greenlief (Centreville, VA/Westfield) had 12 points and nine rebounds, one shy of a double-double. Senior Courtney Brewer (Culpeper, VA/Highland) had eight points, while Crump finished with seven points and five rebounds.
LC forced 17 Randolph (0-20/0-15 ODAC) turnovers, while limiting them to a 31.4 shooting percentage from the field. Courtney Bouchard led the WildCats with 15 points while Olivia Johnson put up 12 in the contest.
Lynchburg (4-15/4-10 ODAC) returns home tomorrow to host Hollins at 4 p.m. All proceeds from the men's basketball game at 1 p.m. and the women's game tomorrow will be donated to charity to build wells in Africa.
