Hornet Men's Lax Defeats RMC 12-7
ASHLAND, VA – Sophomore Max Voumard scored three times Wednesday afternoon to lead the Lynchburg College men's lacrosse team to a 12-7 victory at Randolph-Macon College in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action.
Voumard opened the scoring less than a minute into play but RMC tied the score with three minutes left in the period. Andrew Wilfong and Jeff Schwartz scored back-to-back goals in a six-second span to give LC a 3-1 lead at the end of one period. Patrick Egan scored his second and third goals of the game for Randolph-Macon in the second period to knot the score at three all. Derek Sweet scored before intermission to give the Hornets a 4-3 halftime lead.
The Yellow Jackets scored the first goal of the second half, but after that it was all Lynchburg. The Hornets netted eight of the next nine goals to take a commanding 12-5 lead.
Schwartz won 19 of his 21 face-off attempts and LC out-shot its hosts 47-28. Sweet finished with two goals and an assist and Wilfong, Dylan Hoff and Josh Davey found the back of the net twice. Franc Cook made eight saves for LC while R-MC keeper Jason Crawford made 16 stops.
Lynchburg (10-5/4-2) hosts Virginia Wesleyan College Saturday at 4 p.m. on Senior Day.
