Hampden-Sydney Defeats LC 90-67
HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA - Harrison George scored a game-high 29 points Wednesday evening as Hampden-Sydney College defeated Lynchburg College 90-67 in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) game.
The game was tied at 19 all after nine minutes of play in the first half. The Tigers went on a 13-2 run to go ahead 32-21, and also held an 11-point lead (43-32) at intermission. The closest the Hornets could cut the lead was to eight, but H-SC held a double-digit edge for most of the second half.
Junior center Austin Chillemi paced the Hornets with a double-double, tallying 16 points and 10 rebounds. Senior guard Tucker Lucas also had 16 points, hitting 4-of-9 of his three-point shots. Junior Brandan Connor had nine points, six rebounds and two steals, while second-leading scorer Nate Campbell was held to seven points and six boards. Xavier Parham posted four points, six assists, three rebounds and three steals.
George also tied a team-high with eight rebounds. Khobi Williamson added 17 points and eight boards, hitting all seven of his shot attempts, and Greg Lewis had 13 points.
The Tigers had a large advantage statistically in field-goal shooting, hitting 52% (35-67) of their shots, opposed to 34 percent (24-70) from LC. H-SC also held a rebounding edge of nine boards (46-37).
The Hornets (9-6/4-3 ODAC) host Washington & Lee University Saturday in another ODAC game at 3 p.m. in Turner Gymnasium.
