Roanoke Defense Keys 52-42 Victory Over LC Women

SALEM, VA – The Roanoke College women's basketball team held Lynchburg College to just 22 percent shooting from the floor Tuesday night as the Maroons won the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) contest 52-42 Tuesday night.

Roanoke had a 25-17 lead at halftime and opened a 45-28 advantage with eight minutes left in the game.  LC went on a 9-0 run to trim the edge to 45-37 at the five-minute mark, but could get no closer.

Senior forward Katie Crump had seven points, seven rebounds and six steals and freshman Shannon Allan tallied a team-high 13 points and tied for a team-high with seven rebounds. Senior Carly Greenlief scored nine points and freshman Katie Reeves posted six points, four rebounds and four steals.

Nicci Moats had 12 points, 15 rebounds and five blocked shots for Roanoke (2-10/2-6 ODAC). Paxton Gwin had 10 points. The Maroon defense forced LC into 15-68 (22%) shooting overall, and 3-23 (13%) from three-point range.

The Hornets (3-10/2-6 ODAC) travel to Emory & Henry College Friday evening for another ODAC matchup at 7 p.m.
