Hornet Women Defeat Emory & Henry 66-58
EMORY, VA – Senior forward Carly Greenlief scored a game-high 17 points Friday night to lead the Lynchburg College women's basketball team to a 66-58 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) victory at Emory & Henry College.
The Hornets trailed 38-28 at halftime and the Wasps led by as many as 12 before the Hornets rallied. A 23-8 run gave the Hornets a three-point advantage with eight minutes left and held on thanks to seven points from Greenlief in the final five minutes.
Greenlief hit seven of 11 of her shots and added eight rebounds. Freshman forward Shannon Allan posted 13 points, added a game-high 11 rebounds and added two blocked shots and two steals while sophomore guard Roslyn Alexander also had 13 points. Senior Katie Crump tallied nine points, nine rebounds and four assists and Katie Reeves had five points and six rebounds.
Michelle Williams had 14 points and six rebounds for the Wasps (1-10/0-9 ODAC). Kristie Langley scored 13 points and added eight rebounds and Carlyta Hamm had 13 points and seven rebounds.
Lynchburg held a 50-37 advantage in rebounding and forced 19 turnovers, scoring 23 points off those turnovers.
The Hornets (4-10/3-6 ODAC) travel to Guilford College Saturday for another ODAC game at 4 p.m.
