Hampden-Sydney Tops Lynchburg Men's Basketball
LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College men's basketball team fell to Hampden-Sydney College on Wednesday night 92-59 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play in Turner Gym.
Sophomore Andrew Simmons led the Hornets with eight points, going 3-4 from the field. Junior Brandan Connor and senior Tucker Lucas each added seven points. Sophomore Harry West, Jr. led snagged four rebounds, leading LC while fellow sophomore Xavier Parham registered five steals.
Both teams traded shots early, with junior Michael Wims hitting a three with less 11 minutes left in the first frame, pushing the score to a 15-12 Hampden-Sydney lead. Using an 11-0 run starting at the 10:49 mark, the Tigers distanced themselves early from Lynchburg. HSC led 42-24 heading into halftime.
The Tigers hit several shots in the second half, and extended their lead for a final of 92-59. Ru White led Hampden-Sydney with 15 points and seven rebounds. Ben Jessee and Greg Lewis each added 11 points as well.
Hampden-Sydney (16-3/9-2 ODAC) shot 54.7% from the field compared to 33.3% for LC.
Lynchburg (11-8/6-5 ODAC) hosts Methodist College on Saturday at 2 p.m in Turner Gym.
