Hornet Men Defeat Bridgewater 92-78
LYNCHBURG, VA – Senior forward Nate Campbell scored 20 of his game-high 22 points in the second half Wednesday evening to lead the Lynchburg College men's basketball team to a 92-78 victory over Bridgewater College in an Old Dominion Athletic conference (ODAC) game.
The Hornets trailed 43-41 at halftime, but scored 51 second-half points and shot 57 percent from the floor after intermission. The LC defense forced the Eagles into just 29 percent shooting in the second stanza, including just 15 percent from beyond the three-point arc.
Campbell hit 9-of-15 shots and both three-pointers, and also grabbed six rebounds. Junior center Austin Chillemi posted a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds to go with four blocked shots. Manny Hernandez drilled four three pointers to finish with 14 points and Tucker Lucas and Harry West Jr. each had 11 points. Sophomore guard Xavier Parham distributed 11 assists and also chipped in nine points and four steals, as the LC defense caused 22 turnovers.
Bridgewater falls to 4-8/1-2 ODAC with the loss. Ronnie Thomas had a triple-double with 17 points, a game-high 22 rebounds and handed out 10 assists. Cody Griffith posted 20 points and Aaron Adams had 13.
The Hornets host Guilford College Saturday at 2 p.m. in another ODAC contest, followed by the LC women at 4 p.m. squaring off with Hollins University.
