LC Women's Basketball Notches 75-53 Victory Over Randolph College
LYNCHBURG, VA – Lynchburg College had four players in double figures in scoring as the Hornets defeated Randolph College 75-53 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play on Friday night.
Sophomore Roslyn Alexander led all scorers by going 7-9 from the field and 2-3 from three-point range for 16 points. Alexander also snagged six rebounds in the victory. Senior Katie Crump added 12 points, seven rebounds, and three steals. Freshman Shannon Allan and junior Shea Kelley each added 11 points. Allan grabbed 11 rebounds, making it the fifth time this season that she has registered a double-double.
Randolph led 4-3 at the 18:16 mark of the first half, but after a three-pointer from freshman Katie Reeves, Lynchburg never relinquished the lead. LC closed out the first half with a 34-27 advantage after a layup from senior Caitlin Falls.
The Hornets kept Randolph at bay in the second half thanks to tough defense. Randolph managed only ten points in the first 10:32 of the second frame. LC forced 23 turnovers, recorded 13 steals, and blocked seven WildCat shots.
Lynchburg extended its lead to 24 after a three-pointer from senior Allyson Cannella and a layup from sophomore Julia Scales, which pushed the score to 75-51. A couple made free throws from Randolph (3-7/0-5 ODAC) made the final 75-53 in favor of Lynchburg.
LC (2-8/1-4 ODAC) hosts Hollins University on Saturday at 4 p.m. in Turner Gym.
