#1 Salisbury Defeats #11 LC 16-7
SALISBURY, MD – Sam Bradman scored four times and added two assists Saturday to lead top-ranked Salisbury University over #11 Lynchburg College in non-conference men's lacrosse play.
The Sea Gulls scored the first two goals of the game before LC's Pat Ohrem found the back of the net to make it 2-1 early in the first period. The teams traded goals before Salisbury scored three-straight times to pull ahead 6-2 with four minutes left in the quarter. LC cut the lead to 6-3 by the end of the quarter.
Salisbury outscored LC 3-2 in the second quarter to take a 9-5 advantage into intermission. SU posted all four goals in the third quarter, including two from Ryan Clarke, and pulled ahead 13-5 after three. Ohrem scored again to start the fourth, and Salisbury scored three of the last four goals to close out the game.
Senior Andrew Wilfong scored three goals to pace LC and Ohrem found the back of the net twice. Ben Sauer and Jay Goldsmith each scored once while Dylan Hoff and Chase Loetz each had an assist. Senior Franc Cook made 21 saves in net for LC. Joe Lisicky caused three turnovers, while Matt Jernack had team-best six groundballs.
Clarke posted three goals and one assist and Matt Cannone had two goals and two assists for Salisbury (2-0). The Sea Gulls out-shot LC 52-29 and won 14 of the game's 27 face-offs.
The Hornets (1-1) host Franklin & Marshall College Saturday in another non-conference game at 1 p.m.
