Va. Wesleyan College Defeats LC 67-56
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA –The first-place Virginia Wesleyan College women's basketball team forced 23 turnovers Tuesday night en route to a 67-56 victory over visiting Lynchburg College in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) game.
The Marlins held a 33-27 lead at halftime and extended the advantage to 40-31 with 16:40 left in the game. A 9-0 Hornet run tied the game at 40 at the 13:16 mark, but the Marlins scored the game's next seven points. VWC led 61-45 and a late Hornets surge cut the advantage to seven but could get no closer.
Freshman guard Katie Reeves scored a team-high 13 points with five rebounds, while fellow rookie Shannon Allan contributed a double-double with 11 points and a game-high 13 rebounds and also added five assists. Senior forward Caitlin Falls made all five of her shots to finish with 11 points, senior forward Katie Crump posted eight points and six rebounds and senior guard Carly Greenlief scored seven points.
Sarah Seipp tallied a game-high 19 points and added seven rebounds and four steals for the Marlins (17-4/14-2). Jocelyn Spencer added 13 points.
The Hornets (7-14/6-10 ODAC) hosts Emory & Henry College Friday evening at 7 p.m.
