Balanced Attack Leads Hornets over R-MC

ASHLAND, VA – Four different players tallied two goals as the #11 Lynchburg College men's lacrosse team defeated Randolph-Macon College in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play 16-6 on Wednesday night.

The first period featured nine goals, with the initial four coming by LC players before the clock struck 10.  The teams then went back and forth as the quarter ended with 6-3 score.  Todd Galvin and Max Voumard both scored and assisted on other goals in that time, and Berk Ellis tallied his first career goal as well.

LC scored the only two goals in the second, with the latter coming in a man-up opportunity by Campbell Armstrong.  Voumard put his second shot of the night in the back of the net only a minute into the second half to give the Hornets 9-3 advantage.  Tim Rowe cut the lead by one with a goal at the 5:13 mark, but Lynchburg answered with six straight to put the game out of reach.

Voumard, Galvin, Chris Hower, and Jay Goldsmith each scored two goals.  Josh Davey and Armstrong assisted on four and two goals respectively, as the Hornets ended the game with an impressive 12 helpers.  Vin Curran and Bobby Distler combined to go 15-26 on face-offs in the game.

Rowe and Robert Fox each scored twice and had an assists for the Yellow Jackets (5-8 overall, 1-4 ODAC).  Jordan Devito made eight saves for R-MC, and his counterpart Adam Davey stopped 11 shots.

Lynchburg (10-3, 5-1) returns home Saturday night.  ODAC rival Virginia Wesleyan College comes to Shellenberger Field for a 7 p.m. tilt.
