Hornet Women Defeat Hollins 65-50

ROANOKE, VA – The Lynchburg College women's basketball team defeated Hollins University Wednesday evening 65-50 in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match-up.

LC led 35-20 at halftime, but HU cut the lead to 42-35 with 11:25 left in the contest. A 22-5 Lynchburg run put the game out of reach.

Freshman Charmaine Hairston set her career-high in points for the second-straight contest, netting 21 with five steals. Ann Dorris scored 13 points, hitting five of her seven shots from the floor. Chaney Forbush had eight points, eight rebounds and two blocks while Shannon Allan tallied seven points, seven rebounds and three blocked shots.

Chanci Wright scored a team-best 13 points for Hollins (5-11/0-7) and grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds. Jewell Parfitt added 12 points.

The Hornets (9-7/6-1 ODAC) travel to Shenandoah University Saturday for another ODAC contest at 2 p.m.
