Chaney Forbush Leads LC Women to 72-53 Victory over Randolph

LYNCHBURG, VA – Junior forward Chaney Forbush delivered 21 points and 17 rebounds as the Lynchburg College women's basketball team defeated visiting Randolph College 72-53 in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) contest Tuesday night. Junior Sammi Goldsmith tied the LC single-season school record with 10 assists, nine in the first half.

LC led 25-19 with five minutes left in the first half, and closed on a 9-3 run to assume a 34-22 advantage at intermission.

Senior Shannon Allan and Forbush drilled three pointers and Lauren Penley made a layup to open the second half to give LC a 20-point edge.  The WildCats trimmed the lead to nine mid-way through the half but could get no closer.

Forbush sank 8-of-10 free throws en route to her game-high point total. Allan finished with 19 points on 6-of-9 shooting, while Penley contributed 11 points and six rebounds. Goldsmith is now tied with four other former student-athletes for the assist record, including current Hornet assistant coach Ann Dorris.

Abigail Bullins hit three three-pointers and postedf 16 points for Randolph (11-3/2-3 ODAC). Chelsea Tyler made 11 of her 12 free throw attempts for 11 points and Allie Druffel scored nine.

LC held a 47-33 advantage on the backboards.

The Hornets (8-5/4-1 ODAC) travel to Salem College (NC) for a non-conference game Thursday at 7 p.m.
