Bobby Ford Drills Eight Threes as LC Men Rally for 86-84 win over Berry

DAYTONA BEACH, FL – Sophomore guard Bobby Ford connected on eight three pointers and ended with 24 points Monday night to help the Lynchburg College men's basketball team rally for a 86-84 win over Berry College (GA) in the Daytona Beach Shootout.

Berry shot 52 percent from the floor in the first half en route to a 56-44 edge at intermission. Ford kept the Hornets close in the game's first 20 minutes, shooting a perfect 6-of-6 from three-point range.

In the second half, LC trimmed the lead quickly, but the Vikings still held an advantage until the closing minutes. Ford hit his eighth and final three pointer to tie the game at 79 all and Zack Burnett made a free throw to give the Hornets the lead with 3:47 left on the game clock. The score was tied at 84 and Burnett sank a jumper with eight seconds left to give LC the win.

Burnett finished with 20 points and Alex Graves posted 18 points and nine rebounds, scoring 16 of his points in the second half. Daniel Rowe stroked all three of his treys and ended with 11 points while Lyndon White fell just short of a triple double with 10 points, a game-high 11 rebounds and eight assists. Ford was just one triple short of the school record for most in a game, set by Robby Kaiser with nine in 2009.

Caleb Johnson paced the Vikings (2-7) with 25 points. Blake Scherrman had 15 and Lee McCloud had 10.

The Hornets (8-3) take a four-game win streak into the New Year. LC will return to Old Dominion Athletic Conference play Jan. 5 at Emory & Henry College.
