Angell and Stewart Each Score Four as #4 LC Men's Lax Defeats R-MC 14-8
ASHLAND, VA – Juniors Dane Angell and Austin Stewart scored four goals each as the fourth-ranked Lynchburg College men's lacrosse team defeated Randolph-Macon College 14-8 Wednesday in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match-up.
The score was tied at two mid-way through the first period, but three-straight Hornet goals gave LC a 5-2 edge after one quarter. Another 5-2 period in favor of LC in the second game put Lynchburg ahead comfortably 10-4 at intermission.
A goal by Angell a minute into the third made it a seven-score game and LC cruised to the 14-8 win.
Stewart's four goals give him 71 on the season and put him in first place all-time for goals in the season at Lynchburg. The next record in his sights is the ODAC single-season mark of 75, set by Roanoke College's Jon Mason in 2007.
Angell's four goals was a season high. Aaron Murphy also had an impressive evening with two goals and four assists, and Todd Galvin posted a goal and two assists. Colin McGuire and Brian Smith also scored.
Bobby Distler won 12 of his 21 face-off chances and LC held a 41-23 shot advantage.
Coleman Adams paced the Yellow Jackets (6-11/3-6 ODAC) with three goals and one assist. Kyle Keepers had two goals and Brian Davies made 14 saves.
The Hornets (14-2/8-0 ODAC) close out the regular season Saturday at Shenandoah University at 2 p.m.
