Austin Stewart Scores Five as LC Men Defeat Randolph 20-6
LYNCHBURG, VA – Junior attack Austin Stewart scored five goals and added an assist Wednesday as the fifth-ranked Lynchburg College men's lacrosse team defeated Randolph College 20-6 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action.
The Hornets scored the first 11 goals in the game, including nine in the first period, to put the game away early. LC led 12-1 at halftime, and the WildCats scored five second-half goals to cut into the advantage, including the game's last two goals.
Sean Ahearn had four goals and an assist, while Brian Smith, Chris Camarca, Chris Cornelius and Jacob Fuller each scored twice. Joey Giannaras, Colin McGuire and Hunter Thompson each had a goal. Daniel Owens had two assists and Harrison Brennan, Luke Ernst, Brooks Melvin, Aaron Murphy and Smith each had an assist.
Ryan Campbell netted two goals for Randolph (4-7/0-5 ODAC) and Brian Crosby posted a goal and an assist. Cam Davis made 10 saves.
Danny Czerkawski won 10 of 14 face-offs and Smith scooped five ground balls.
Lynchburg (10-2/5-0 ODAC) hosts Virginia Wesleyan College (4-0) Saturday evening in a battle for first place in the conference.
