Hornet Men's Basketball Defeats W&L 83-69
LEXINGTON, VA – The Lynchburg College men's basketball team defeated Washington & Lee University 83-69 Sunday afternoon in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) matchup. Junior guard Zack Burnett and senior forward Alex Graves combined for 41 points and four Hornets scored in double figures.
Lynchburg trailed 28-27 with three minutes remaining in the first half, but used a 10-0 run to head into intermission with a 37-28 edge. Burnett scored six of the team's 10 points over that span.
LC led by seven (70-63) with five minutes left on the game clock and took over down the stretch, extending the lead and putting the Generals away. Burnett scored seven points in the game's final five minutes.
Burnett ended the contest with 21 points and added four rebounds, three assists and three steals. Graves also filled up the stat sheet with 20 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and three blocked shots. Lyndon White posted 13 points, eight caroms, four assists, four steals and two blocks while Daniel Rowe had 10 points. Omar Kemp made all four of his field-goal attempts for eight points.
Clayton Murtha contributed 20 points and nine rebounds for Washington & Lee (7-5/1-3 ODAC). Devin Kearns made 7-of-9 field goal attempts for 17 points and Andy Kleinlein had 15.
The Hornets (9-4/2-2 ODAC) return to action Wednesday evening against crosstown rival Randolph College at 7:30 p.m.
